Magical Cali with the Roomies... Part 2: Beaches and Cream

After our delicious lunch at Wahoo's, we were ready for some beach time!

Victoria's Beach is only a one-minute walk down the road behind us!

Now, keep in mind that it was still January - Even California is not super warm in January.  However, it was such a nice break from Provo winters that we took advantage of every moment!  The water was freezing, but we still managed to have a marvelous time jumping in the waves.  A deserted beach gave us many opportunities to act completely goofy. :)

Hannah and I in front of the stairwell that led to our own remote ocean shore.

No trip is complete without some epic jumping pictures!

Of course, I'm not showing all the numerous attempts to capture each of us in the air.  But, it's worth it when we end up with an pretty perfect jumping picture like this one.

Typical girly pose :)

After about a half hour of "winter sun-bathing," we walked along the shoreline to check out some awesome tadpoles!  We passed a couple getting their engagement pictures taken, and a model being photographed for who knows what.  So, it was safe to say that we were not the only ones obsessed with taking pictures.
Our beach time ended with a walk up to a nice resort - complete with gorgeous views of the ocean!  Yes, more pictures were involved.

Tadpoles

Amy and I admiring the view as well.

The view - this picture does not do it justice, however.

Our dinner adventure took us to none other than Ruby's Diner on the Huntington Beach Pier!  We were pretty astonished by the number of surfers in the freezing cold water.  Naturally, we craved a hot burger with lots of delicious french fries!
Californians have acquired some desire to know more about the entrees on a menu besides their flavors and prices....The number of calories are printed beside every dish as well!  Yes, you read correctly.  Every single item had a number next to it that was worse to read than the price, and I did not think that was even possible!
It's surprising when you actually realize how many calories you are consuming as you take a huge bite of a delicious burger.  But, once you take that first bite, you're done for - even the number of calories can't stop you!  So, you're left with a stomach filled with much more junk that you need or want, and an extremely guilty feeling.
Needless to say, we didn't stop there with the number of calories we decided to chow down for dinner.  Ruby's is known for something else besides their mouthwatering burgers...SHAKES!  Everyone besides Miriam (who decided to be "healthy" by ordering a much less calorie-filled root beer float) ordered their own shake.  Amy loves banana-chocolate; Hannah couldn't get enough of the peanut butter flavors that were surrounding her in Cali; and I ordered cookie dough - my favorite flavor of ice cream ever since I can remember!  Number of calories?  Okay, I might as well admit it: 780.  We left our glasses completely empty, too.
Come on, we were on an amazing girls trip!  Everybody knows that calories don't count when you're vacationing. :)

Beautiful capture of Huntington.

Miriam took all of these gorgeous scenic photos.

The water was freezing!  These are some dedicated surfers.

Skipping up to Ruby's :)

Hannah and I slurping down every ounce of our 780 calorie shakes.

Amy and Miriam enjoying their dessert as well.

Ah...food. ;)

Fun pics on the pier.

Miriam looks so cute.

Our delicious meal gave us a kanack-attack (Hawaiian word that describes that tired feeling you get after you eat a big meal - learned it from my good friend Sharyn Wada).  Amy also calls that feeling a "food-coma."  So, we were off to bed to rest up for Disneyland!!!
